Mount Nishan in international spotlight
Located to the southeast of Qufu City, east China's Shandong Province, Mount Nishan gains its cultural significance from being the birthplace of Confucius. According to Han Dynasty historian Sima Qian, Confucius' parents went to pray at Mount Nishan and then gave birth to the Chinese sage.
Nishan Forum on World Civilizations (Nishan Forum) was initiated by Mr. Xu Jialu (former Vice Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee) and Mr. Roger T. Ames (a professor with the University of Hawaii) in Qufu, China in 2008. The forum is headquartered at the Nishan Shengyuan College.
The Nishan Forum aims to facilitate dialogues between the world's different civilizations, maintain the diversity of world’s cultures, promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges among different nations, and build a community with a shared future for mankind, while upholding its own academic, traditional, and non-governmental characteristics.
